What is Danon disease?

Danon disease is a rare, genetic condition resulting from a genetic mutation or deletion of the LAMP2 gene on the X chromosome. It is a type of lysosomal storage disorder that causes the build-up of toxic materials in the body’s cells, which can cause health issues related to the heart, muscles, and eyes, as well as intellectual disabilities.
